Who I am
I am an experienced Engineering Manager with a passion for business strategy, sharp people management skills and a solid technical knowledge set.
My vision about strategy and entrepreneurship results from the combination of my experience in companies with various levels of maturity and my numerous readings. I love sharing thoughts on the topic with colleagues and fellow entrepreneurs.
Regarding teams organization, I’ve cherry-picked my own set of Lean and Agile practices to end up with lightweight and low-tech communication techniques which proved very effective to enhance information flow and daily productivity. I value self-empowered teams over micro management and my “soft power” is appreciated by both my management and my teammates.
My undiminished passion for technology keeps me hands-on. Over the years, I’ve became expert at designing scalable architectures. I promote composite designs where multiple coding languages and various storage solutions each serve a specific purpose around an asynchronous event-based foundation.
What I’ve done
I’ve spent twelve exciting years working for french tech companies, starting as a developer, then rapidly in charge of teams and projects and finally leading Engineering departments. Four years ago, I took a leap of faith to move to Singapore with my family, which happened to be the best decision in my life.
I’m currently Engineering Manager at Zendesk Singapore where I’m running 2 amazingly engaged software teams, delivering features and services targeted at enterprise customers and taking numerous org-wide initiatives to improve organizational maturity. Zendesk offers an enriching experience of engineering at global scale and a learning opportunity to sharpen my people management skills.
Before that, I was CTO at Fantouch, an early stage startup in the heart of Paris where I play a strategic role in strengthening the IT, facilitating teams collaboration and redefining the business model along with the Board of Directors. We’ve built a composite platform with various storage solutions (Neo4j, MongoDB, mySQL, ElasticSearch) to support Node.js applications deployed on Amazon Web Services.
I previously spent challenging days & nights 😐 as CTO at Chauffeur-Privé where my focus was to scale the platform in a fast-growing context (10% growth per month). Our stack was mostly Node.js, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Angular.js and we deployed on Heroku.
Earlier, I led the Traffic Team at Pixmania, a major e-commerce website in Europe (900M€ revenue in 2010), for four years.
A little summary of my technical background :
- Distributed architectures (Scalability, Performance, Maintainability, Quality, Security, Reactive platforms, Amazon Web Services)
- Backend programming (Node.js, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, Java, PHP, Ruby)
- Web (HTML 5, CSS 3, Javascript, Angular, Socket IO)
- Databases (MongoDB, Redis, Elastic Search, Neo4j, Oracle, MySQL).
